Build Your Opening Repertoire
The question of how to build your opening repertoire is common among club players. The benefits are clear: you spend much less time and energy thinking about the opening stage during games and you’re more likely to get a good position by move 15. But how should you go about it?
In this lecture, I am going to show you how to build your opening repertoire based on strong lines that most players will be unfamiliar with. This is a 1 hour webinar, free for all YouTube followers.
When you begin to build your opening repertoire, you should think about the type of positions you like to play and fit your opening choices to them. Then you should learn all the major ideas behind the opening: where the pieces go, what the middlegame plans are, even what type of endgames commonly occur. If you want to have the element of surprise, then it helps to pick out lines that are sound but aren’t seen too often. In this webinar, I will show you some great lines in popular chess openings – lines that will take your opponents out of their book knowledge early on while giving you very clear and definite plans. This gives you a huge advantage over the board as your rivals try and figure out what’s going on. Not only will you save time, you’ll be able to spot their mistakes straight away and capitalize on them. This gives you an edge both psychologically and on the board. If you’re serious about getting better at chess but don’t have much time to spend on study, our weekly webinars will give you the best return for your time. Real insights, real improvement, every week. And they’re free!
